OpenDX is an open system software that has features and functions that let you easily gain meaningful insight on your data.  IBM introduced the tool in 1991 as Visualization Data Explorer.  It is now available as a free product at http://www.opendx.org/about.html .  OpenDX lets you also build visualization applications on your own.  The software has the platform for customized application development.
