Management & Organization

The keys to the success of every organization are effective leadership and the creation, development and management of strategic resources. At the dawn of the 21st century, these critical tasks take place in a rapidly changing, global marketplace, featuring a diverse workforce and the utilization of information technology to achieve competitive advantage. The Management and Organization (M&O) faculty in the Robert H. Smith School of Business enables managers and organizations to respond to the challenge.

Faculty research in the areas of entrepreneurship, strategy, organizational behavior, and human resources contributes to both the practice of business and the broad body of knowledge in the management field. Through their teaching, faculty assist current business leaders in developing the skills necessary to create successful organizations and help prepare a new generation of managers to meet future business challenges.

PhD students can choose to concentrate in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, or Strategic Management.
