Smith Faculty
The Robert H. Smith School of
Business is an internationally
recognized leader in management
education and research for the networked
economy. The Smith School faculty
creates and shares knowledge that
advances business practice and prepares
our students and business and government
partners to succeed in a dynamic,
technology-powered
marketplace.
Faculty members explore issues both
in functional business areas, such as
finance, logistics,
management, accounting, and
entrepreneurship, and at the forefront
of e-business, such
as real-time supply chain management,
e-service, and information security.
Their inquiries are
frequently cross functional, reflecting
the integrated nature of business
activities in the netcentric era. Some
Smith faculty members hold joint
appointments with the university’s
Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering, Institute for Systems
Research, and
Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
Drawing on the expertise of colleagues
on the business school faculty and
throughout the University of Maryland,
Smith faculty research has received
significant support from major
institutions including the National
Science Foundation, National Security
Agency, U.S. Department of Defense, and
IBM.
