Jorge Christian

Student Leadership Profile: MBAA Vice President  - MBA Candidate 2008

Jorge Christian seems quiet, but the people who have gotten to know him, laugh at how deceptive that first impression was. He is extremely well mannered and always willing to help out. He grew up in Louisiana before moving to the Washington, D.C. area midway through high school. He comes from a Puerto Rican family. Both parents are scientists and he has two younger siblings attending high school in the D.C. area.

He is also an alumnus with an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in the same subject from the University of Notre Dame. That degree was obtained via a special scholarship program sponsored by his old company, Ernst & Young LLP, where he worked as a staff accountant in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services practice.

Running for the MBA Association (MBAA) VP of Community Development seemed like a perfect match for him because he says he “has a lot of enthusiasm for creating events that help build the Smith community and bring us all together.” This position gives him an opportunity to impact the experiences of his fellow colleagues.

During his tenure, he wants to establish a tradition of doing at least one significant class-wide community service project, integrate the Smith full-time and part-time MBA programs for at least a few social activities to further help grow each persons business network, and also create memorable experiences for the future classes to look up to.

So, if you happen to have a party, look to the open dance floor area where everyone is wildly cheering – it’ll be Jorge, front and center breaking out his renowned Elvis-esque hip gyrations and Latin dance moves.
