Brett Weinrieb

Student Leadership Profile: MBAA Vice President of Finance - MBA Candidate 2008

He loves to meet different people. Around campus, there is many a tale among fellow MBAs of Brett walking straight up to them and asking deceptively simple and engaging questions. This desire led him to run for the MBAA VP of Finance position. During his campaigning, it is wildly believed that Brett spoke to possibly every member of the full-time MBA student body, but he refuses to confirm or deny this tidbit.

Right now, Bethesda-bred Brett loves being an uncle to the newest member of the Weinrieb family, his nephew, Josh. Growing up, he was the baby of the family with one sister who is a yoga instructor and an attorney brother who works in government contracts. His goals for the MBAA are to expedite and automate the reimbursement process for the different clubs following Smith’s as future Leaders of the Digital Economy, provide a higher rate of return on the Association’s cash, and better record keeping for all finance-related operations.

After receiving his undergraduate degree in marketing from Washington University in St. Louis, he worked at Blackboard, Inc. (the one and same company providing Smith’s Web course management tools). He spent time in its financial, planning and revenue analysis group. During his tenure in the MBAA, he is looking forward to being on a governing board and interacting with the student body.

As we sit out in the Van Munching Hall’s atrium, he is carefree and detail-oriented as he notes in one picture that his eyes were really closed. And yes, he is also proud to admit that he really did try to launch a model rocket in his bedroom when he was 8 years old.
