Did you know that a person can be legally fired from a job in 36 states for his or her sexual orientation? Ever wonder what else you didn’t know about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues? Smith Pride Alliance, a new student run organization at the Smith School, was formed to raise awareness about LGBT issues in the workplace, build relations with alumni and other groups, encourage dialogue within the community, and promote progressive diversity within Smith.

Spotlight on OCM & Rankings town hall

Ever wonder what the OCM has been doing and where your feedback goes? How does the administration view the rankings? In response to student inquiries into both these areas, Associate Dean Cherie Scricca, Managing Director of the Office of Career Management (OCM) Janet Richert, and the full-time MBAA last week hosted an open dialogue with students for further discussion. Richert and Scricca pointed out common concerns and progress in each area, while students asked pointed questions for further details and offered feedback for specific improvements.

Wine Education Tips

 On Tuesday, November 16, the Jewish MBAA and Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship co-hosted a wine education session for Smith MBA students, designed to provide students with a foundation for an advanced understanding of wine. Jordan Lichman, former winery manager, culinary instructor, professional chef, and current first-year full-time MBA student, led the class in a discussion and tasting designed for the interested novice or casually experienced wine drinker. Fifty people attended the event, including undergrads, MBAs, staff, and Associate Dean Scricca. [More]
