Smith Executive Education Ranks #5 in U.S..

The Smith School is ranked among the world’s best providers of custom management programs – No. 5 in the U.S. and No. 8 globally – according to a survey of executive education programs from The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released last week. The EIU is the business information arm of The Economist Group, which publishes The Economist.

"Our strong ranking reflects the world-leading quality of our custom executive programs," said Howard Frank, dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. "Custom education is becoming increasingly necessary as companies struggle to keep up with constant changes in technology, markets and competition. Executives must continuously evolve to be successful."

"Southwest District Improvements"

Trees in Place Thanks to Smith Donors
The area that was once a blacktop parking lot in front of Van Munching Hall is looking more like the tree shaded park that it will soon become. Three large trees are now in place and work has begun to lay thousands of bricks on the pathways that will lead to the school’s entrances. The large trees and other improvements come thanks to the generosity of several Smith School donors who have helped fund the project. Each tree weighed about 15 tons before being planted.

Smith to Host Diversity Event

The Smith School of Business will be holding its annual diversity event, dubbed Kaleidoscope, on Saturday, December 3, 2005.

The event targets students from underrepresented populations (African-American, Hispanic American, Native American and women). During the event, attendees will get an overview of the Smith MBA program as well as an introduction to the fundamental disciplines of graduate management education. They will also have a chance to do an in-depth exploration of issues such as the admissions process, financing the MBA, and career opportunities post MBA.

The day’s events will include:

  • Panels highlighting the perspectives of Smith full and part-time students
  • Mock classes taught by members of Smith’s distinguished faculty
  • Lunch with the Smith community (alumni, students, faculty and staff)
  • Admissions overview presentation

Student members of the Black MBA Association, Smith Alliance of Women in the MBA (SAWMBA), and Hispanic MBA Association will serve as panelists, lunch hosts and workshop volunteers.

He also wanted everyone to know that his family is doing fine and are in very good shape. We at Smith IT are glad that he has gotten over the rough parts of this ordeal and invite the Smith Community to welcome Warren back whenever you see him in the corridors at Van Munching Hall.
