Smith Executive
Education Ranks #5 in U.S..
The Smith School is ranked among the
world’s best providers of custom
management programs – No. 5 in the U.S.
and No. 8 globally – according to a
survey of executive education programs
from
The Economist Intelligence
Unit (EIU) released last week. The EIU is the business information arm of
The Economist Group, which publishes
The Economist.
"Our strong ranking reflects the
world-leading quality of our custom
executive programs," said Howard
Frank, dean of the Robert H. Smith
School of Business. "Custom education is
becoming increasingly necessary as
companies struggle to keep up with
constant changes in technology, markets
and competition. Executives must
continuously evolve to be successful."

Trees in Place Thanks to Smith Donors
The area that was once a blacktop parking lot in front
of Van Munching Hall is looking more like the tree
shaded park that it will soon become. Three large trees
are now in place and work has begun to lay thousands of
bricks on the pathways that will lead to the school’s
entrances. The large trees and other improvements come
thanks to the generosity of several Smith School donors
who have helped fund the project. Each tree weighed
about 15 tons before being planted.

Warren’s Return
Warren Pointer, Smith IT AV technician, is back at
work after a personal tragedy of losing his home to a
fire November 12th. Warren reports that he and his
family appreciate all the prayers and thoughts that the
Smith community has expressed. He also wanted everyone
to know that his family is doing fine and are in very
good shape. We at Smith IT are glad that he has gotten
over the rough parts of this ordeal and invite the Smith
Community to welcome Warren back whenever you see him in
the corridors at Van Munching Hall.
